He started a truck business and that failed too…
In the mid 1990s ,Pete organized a concert in Kenya,flew in an American musician with high hopes of making huge profits from the show; well that dint happen,he lost everything instead.
He invested $235,000 in the show and made just $35,000 in sales.
Through all of this Pete was only able to sustain his architecture consultancy.
In 1997, this business was also affected by a new government policy so Pete had to struggle for another few years trimming down staff strength from 17 to 2.
After reading the Robert Kiyosaki’s “rich dad, poor dad”, with no financial lifelines, Pete started working towards getting into property development business.
He partnered with a friend who provided capital on a project of 16 apartments, after this he has gone on to do even bigger and more successful projects in the property business.
Today, Pete Muraya is the CEO ,Suraya Property Group, one of the most successful real estate companies in Kenya.
